Sponsorships
Sponsorships on Pinterest are essential brands giving you complimentary products or compensating you with cash to pin their product images or latest promotions.
How to get paid to pin on Pinterest by brands?
Firstly, you must have a Pinterest account with high monthly views that gets a good amount of outbound clicks.
This is because brands will pay you to pin their product images for two reasons:
- Brand awareness (which they get from your Pinterest monthly views)
- Lead/sale generation (outbound clicks – clicks from Pinterest to their website)
Instead of waiting for brands to come to you, why not approach these brands once you’ve had some success on Pinterest?
Here’s what I would do to approach brands for sponsorships on Pinterest.
Step 1: Find their marketing or PR manager via Linkedin.
It is a much easier way to approach the person that’s going to be making the decision of sponsoring you or not rather than going through their support or inquiry email.
It takes you one step closer to the goal.
Step 2: Message them via LinkedIn or Email
When you do this, don’t come off desperate or salesy. Try to leave a genuine remark about why you love the brand and how honoured you would be to able to promote it on Pinterest.
Step 3: Attach Your Media Kit
Send in your media kit with your email or LinkedIn message.
A media kit is also known as a press kit, bloggers or influencers create them to store all information and stats related to their audience and how it may benefit the brand they are trying to work with.
The easiest and quickest way to make a media kit is to use Canva. I made one for myself in under 30 minutes because of the ready to use templates Canva has.
Some of the information you should attach in your media kit are:
- Pinterest monthly views
- Outbound clicks and click through rate
- Audience age and demographic
- Top pins and relevant niche they’re in
Sell Pin Templates
Best place to market your pin templates is obviously Pinterest!
Here’s a secret – you don’t need to be a design guru to be able to design and sell pin templates.
I know I’ve mentioned Canva countless times in this blog post but it is the best investment I’ve ever made when it comes to making money online!
Canva has thousands of Pinterest templates for you to edit! You can use the templates as a base to remove and add some elements within canva to make it your own!
Then all you have to do is to sell them online! I would recommend Etsy because it’s super easy to set up.

Can I Use Pinterest Without A Blog?
Yes you can.
You can use Pinterest as a regular consumer to get inspiration for your next outfit, DIY project, meal to prep or find the next best book to read!
If you want to earn money from Pinterest – you can most certainly do without a blog.
Some common ways are selling physical products via etsy, selling digital products, affiliate marketing and marketing your own service based business.
How Do Beginners Make Money On Pinterest?
As a beginner on Pinterest, what you really want to focus on is choosing a niche, setting up your account correctly, making sure it is SEO optimised and creating attractive pins so that you get noticed on Pinterest by other pinners.
Before you dive into the steps – I highly recommend you take this free Pinterest Traffic class to understand Pinterest better and grow your account so you can make money on Pinterest without a blog.
You need to learn how to become a Pinterest creator and how does the platform work before you expect to make tons of money from Pinterest with or without a blog.
Step 1: Choose Your Niche
Think about the types of affiliate programs you want to join and promote, types of physical products, digital products and services you would like to promote to figure out what niche is best for you.
Some common Pinterest niches are:
- Home and Living
- Hobbies (gardening, sports, DIY, craft)
- Parenting / Motherhood
- Technology
- Food and Drink / Recipes
- Fitness
Step 2: Set Up Your Pinterest Account
This is really important to monetize your Pinterest – create a business account.
Although business accounts are usually created to represent a brand or an organization, you need a business account if you want to earn money on Pinterest without a blog.
This is because you need access to features like Pinterest analytics to analyze what pins to create and monetize your account.
Step 3: Optimise Your Profile
The next step is to optimise your Pinterest profile and make it a niche profile.
Pinterest works best when you niche down! Eg of niches: food inspo account, fashion, home and living, marketing tips and more.
If you are going to create digital products and promote affiliate links related to home and living, then your profile should have home and living keywords in the display name, username and bio.
In my case, I am a book blogger and a freelance writer so this is how I would optimise my profile.
Step 4: Create and Join Group Boards
Create group boards that are suitable within your niche.
For example, if you are in the home and living niche, you should enter some relevant keywords in the Pinterest search bar to find group boards that are common within your niche.
To find group boards that are created by other people and are open for collaboration – use pingroupie.com
This allows you to repin your pins to these boards and that means you’ll get more views (and more clicks too!)
Step 5: Design and Publish Pins
The key to getting noticed on Pinterest is to have “pretty pins”.
Your pins need to be attractive enough for someone to click them.
This does not just stop at the design and colour scheme, but also include the headline and description.
My favourite way for creating these pins is by using Canva. There are thousands of ready-to-go templates to choose from!
All you have to do is switch out the images and the headline! And you’re good to go – quickest way to publish pins and start making money on Pinterest.
Bonus tip: Use Canva to save your time when designing pins. They have 1000+ free Pinterest templates! All you have to do is switch out the image and edit the pin!
Step 6: Use Tailwind To Schedule Pins
If you want to earn quickly on Pinterest, you’ll have to find the quickest way to automate pins.
Can you imagine having to design 20-50 pins a day and manually pinning them all by yourself?
It is going to exhaust you and you don’t want that to happen before you finally start seeing results with your Pinterest account.
Tailwind is great for scheduling pins. It also has a feature called Tailwind Tribes which is a group of similar niched pinners willing to repin your pin.
I’ve had a handful of pins go viral with Tailwind Tribes! It is definitely worth the investment to me!

How Many Followers On Pinterest Do You Need To Make Money?
You don’t need many followers to make money on Pinterest. To make money, your priority should be on getting impressions (also known as Pinterest monthly viewers), not followers.
Since Pinterest is a visual search engine, your pin can show up when people search for related keywords – allowing them to click on your affiliate link.
You don’t need followers, you just need to target the right keywords.
So how do you find these keywords?
By learning what is Pinterest SEO and doing keyword research using the trends tool and the analytics feature.
The Pinfluencer Academy really taught me all about keyword research and pin optimization for my pins to go viral and get a lot of impressions and I can’t believe they’re 50% OFF when you use my code BREWINGWRITER.
Does Pinterest Pay Pinners?
No, Pinterest does not directly pay Pinterest creators. However, companies may sponsor you to publish pins related to their products or services.
Besides sponsorships, having affiliate links on your pins that might convert into a sale is a way to earn money on Pinterest.
